Donington on Bain

Over one hundred children attend the village primary school at Donington on Bain and all walked over the road to join others gathered for the Armistice Day Service at the War Memorial in St Andrews Churchyard on Tuesday, at 10.55am on the 11th Day of the 11th Month on the 90th anniversary. The service was led by the Revd Ian McGrath and several of the children laid wreaths they had made and read prayers they had written while others were included in a book of prayers that was placed in the parish church. Mr Albert Martin laid the parish wreath and Reveille and the last post was played.Silence was observed at 11am and afterwards the service continued in St Andrews and the children with their teachers and other staff members returned to school. The Revd McGrath gave the address and read a poem written by a member of the congregation while hymns were accompanied at the organ by Mrs Pam Cade.
